Colin Herring aka Daddy Long Legs was taught to walk on stilts as a puppeteer by Peter Schuman. In workshops arranged by the Adelaide Festival Trust circa 1980 "Daddy" became a stiltwalker. In 1981 Colin met "Daddy Long Legs" at the Lygon Street Festa in Melbourne who mentored Colin to become "Daddy" upon Alex Jurman's retirement. Colin learnt the art of showmanship from one of Moombas favourite characters
Colin worked with the inaugural one day cricket matches of Kerry Packer entertaining at the Sydney Cricket Ground during lunch. He also attended many cycling classics from Brisbane to Two-fold Bay.. Colin has attended many International sporting functions including The Tour Down under. Adelaide oval, SCG, Rowing and many International Rugby matches and many Agricultural shows and Festivals throughout Australia
Although I am semi-retired, I, juggle, do Magic shows. I have been published as a poet about 8 times and have 2 books published. One an anthology of my own poems entitled "You are not alone" and another auto-biographical book title "7 League Boots"; about my exploits as a stiltwalker throughout Australia and Pacific Isles.
